Daksh Nagarik Foundation
A Non-Profit Organization is founded by Advocate Sunil Kumar, practicing at the Honorable Bombay High Court and the Honorable Supreme Court of India. The founder is inspired by his 27 years of life in a slum, where Mr. Sunil Kumar lived in a small hut with his family, including his mother, father, one brother, and one sister. The founder/Managing Director's father was mentally handicapped, and his mother, Smt. Yeshoda Sharma, was a ladies tailor. The entire source of income depended on the hard work of Mr. Sunil Kumar's mother, who earned a living through savings and stitching ladies' materials.
The Founder at the age of 13 started working with his mother and helping her in the stitching of ladies clothes. The Founder being inspired by an NGO known as CASP PLAN, an American based NGO who during the period of Nineties had adopted more than One Crore poor slum dwellers and used to provide Notebooks, Bags, Pencils, Pens and School Dress. Mr. Sunil Kumar was also one of the beneficiaries who was being donated the Books, Bags, Pencils and School Dress by the said NGO and with the help of that NGO Mr.Sunil Kumar could take education from 1st Standard to 7th Standard in a Municipal School being run by Government of Maharashtra.
Mr.Sunil Kumar then took an admission into Hindi Medium School known as Film City High School whereby he used to sell vadapav in the interval and has completed his education from 8th Std. to 10th Std. by the earnings of selling the vada pavs during the intervals in the school on his school dress and after selling the vada pav he used to again re-joined in the class and he used to be topper and always the First Rank Holder in his school. Mr. Sunil Kumar then took an admission into 11th Std. in Patkar College Goregaon (West), in the year 1998 and he used to walk 5 KM from his house to Partkar College in the lack of travelling expenses and completed his graduation into English Literature and Law of Economics as main subjects. Thereafter Mr.Sunil Kumar then took admission and did his Bachelor of Law Degree (BA. LLB) from Advani Law College whereby he used to travel from Bandra Station to the National College where the Advani Law College is situated which is nearly 2.5KM away every day. Being inspired by the self-difficulties and also being inspired by the Books, Bags, Pens, Pencils and School Dress by an NGO knows as CASP PLAN the Founder hereby has founded DAKSH NAGRIK FOUNDATION on 29.04.2020 and he being in hope and also being formed that if he can be an Advocate from middle class life and can practice as an Advocate on the aid given by an NGO then there are chances that if the poor girls who are being deprived of now a days into slum areas from their education and because of lack of education they are falling into prostitution, small household works and that is resulting into rape, molestation, divorce and domestic violence etc. The founder aims being inspired of his personal life where his own sister could not complete her education because of the lack of funds and because of non-priority to his sister from the parents of the Founder.
The aim and the target of the Foundation is to promote the education of poor and deprived girls hailing from slum area and educate them and also empower them with knowledge as only the knowledge can push those poor and deprived girls of slums from darkness to brightness and with this mission DAKSH NAGRIK FOUNDATION is continuously making efforts to be an assistant of the poor and deprived girl child and also a tool for the women empowerment in form of providing free legal services to them before different court of law. DAKSH NAGRIK FOUNDATION feels very proud and attempting its full-fledged target to open girls’ colleges where the education will be provided to the girls who are deprived of their basis rights and who are hailing from the weakest section of the society at a cheaper and a reasonable costs with all facilities in order to enable nearly half of the population of the country to come forward with education and contribute their efforts for the development of the country.
